How to make edible flowers
For example, make flowers out of chocolate! Chocolate modeling is one of the easiest and most delicious ways to make cake flowers. Unlike mastic, which can be stubborn, chocolate is easy to mold like real flower petals. In fact, you don’t need any special tools or cutters – you can just work with the chocolate in your hands until the materials are flexible and then let your imagination run wild. If the touch makes the chocolate too warm and melts, put it in the refrigerator for a short time to harden. You can also follow these instructions for simple floral decorations:
Roll out the chocolate. It can tear easily, so it’s wise to sprinkle cornstarch on your hands and work surfaces to prevent the chocolate from sticking to them.
Use cutters to knock out flower shapes. If the chocolate is stuck in the cutter, gently press the center with a round tool, such as the back of the brush.
It is best to store the flowers in something small and curved, such as silicone molds, to dry in a curved shape. They can also dry on parchment paper, but they will not be curled up but flat.
After the flowers have hardened, they can be glued to your cake. Try to work quickly because chocolate flowers will melt if you handle them for too long. Once all the flowers are in place, add a small dot of frosting to the center of each one to complete your design. For extra grace, add some glitter with edible gold dust.
